Lavrov and Rubio spoke before the start of the meeting in Kuala Lumpur

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke on July 11 before the start of the East Asia Summit (EAC) meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Before the start of the event, Lavrov and Rubio talked among themselves, after which they shook hands and went to their seats.

Lavrov and Rubio met in Kuala Lumpur earlier in the day. During the meeting, they also confirmed their commitment to finding peaceful solutions to conflict situations. The importance of further work to normalize the functioning of diplomatic missions was emphasized. Later, Rubio called the conversation with Lavrov productive and frank.
