A foreigner with gold bars worth 86 million rubles was detained in the Amur region

In the Amur region, police detained a foreigner in whose backpack gold bars worth more than 86 million rubles were found. This was announced on July 11 by the press service of the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office in the Telegram channel.

"A foreign citizen, traveling on a passenger train from Moscow to Vladivostok, illegally transported 10 gold bars in a backpack, weighing more than 10 kilograms, worth over 89 million rubles," the department said.

It is specified that after the discovery, the precious metal was confiscated by the police. A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal storage and transportation of precious metals committed on a large scale").

The accused was taken into custody until September 8, 2025. The progress and results of the investigation are under the control of the Prosecutor's Office.

On July 4, Vnukovo Airport customs officers detained a 46-year-old Russian man who was about to fly to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a gold chain worth 3 million rubles. "A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Smuggling of strategically important resources").
