"Shroud", 18+

Canadian film director David Cronenberg, known for the body horror films "The Fly", "Existence", "Crimes of the Future", once again explores the transformation of the human body and fantasizes about technological progress. His new sci-fi thriller "Shroud" is about the funeral industry of the future. The main character Karsh built a fortune on a controversial development — his company creates innovative shrouds that allow people to monitor the decomposition of the bodies of buried loved ones through screens on tombstones. For him, this story is personal. Karsh has been grieving for his wife, who died of cancer, for several years. The system begins to collapse when he discovers strange growths on his beloved's body, and vandals attack the cemetery. Starring Vincent Cassel, who spoke about the filming of the project in an exclusive interview with Izvestia.

"Predatory creatures", 18+

Directed by Sean Byrne. Starring: Hassie Harrison, Jai Courtney, Josh Huston, Ella Newton, Robert Carlton, Michael Goldman

There are a lot of shark films in the ocean of horror — "Jaws", "Meg: Monster of the Deep", "Shoal" and others. The creators of "Predatory Creatures" have prepared a double portion of mortal danger for their heroes, setting not only bloodthirsty sharks, but also a psychotic maniac on them. In the story, surfer Zephyr finds herself held hostage on the ship of a serial killer who enjoys feeding his victims alive to predators. But this time the villain made a mistake — his new "toy" is not one of those who are used to giving up, and can also show his teeth.

The film premiered at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in the Directors' Fortnight section. Sean Byrne's work has received high critical acclaim. According to them, it feels like a breath of fresh air among mediocre shark horror movies with poor graphics. In addition, the characters and the acting were appreciated. On Rotten Tomatoes, "Predatory Creatures" has 86% positive expert reviews.

Almost 20 years after the premiere, "The Girl who Conquered Time" from the Japanese director of the subsequent cult anime "Summer Wars", "The Apprentice of the Beast", "Beauty and the Dragon" by Mamoru Hosoda is released on Russian screens. In 2006, the project was released in a limited number of cinemas in Japan, but it quickly won over the audience that, thanks to word of mouth, there were soon more people willing to watch the novelty than there were empty seats in the halls, and some people occupied standing places.

The plot centers on 17-year—old high school student Makoto, who has no particular interest in studying and prefers to spend time with her two best friends who are in love with her, Kosuke and Chiaki. One day, after a series of troubles, the girl almost dies. Her unexpectedly discovered ability to travel through time saves her. Makoto is passionate about changing his past, but it starts to negatively affect other people, and the number of attempts is limited.
