Liksutov spoke about the growing popularity of electric scooters
30% of Moscow residents prefer electric scooters for short trips around the city using a personal car, taxi or carsharing, said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. These data are presented in a study organized by the Safe Transport Center.
72% of respondents cited freedom of movement as the main reason for preferring electric scooters, even during peak hours, regardless of the situation on the road. Another 64% appreciated the convenience of renting a scooter — you can rent it anywhere in the city. 35% noted that it is possible to get to the desired point faster and easier by scooter than by car. Users also find the scooter interesting, easy to manage, and requires no additional maintenance.
"Electric scooters are an important part of the capital's transport system. Our main task is to make their trips as safe as possible. Moscow is one of the first cities in the world to introduce such a large number of slow zones. In addition, we have made license plates and verification mandatory through mos.ru . We will continue to improve travel safety, as Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin instructed," Maxim Liksutov added.
In Moscow, the electric scooter rental service is used by 5 million people, while in 85% of cases trips are made for transportation purposes. To ensure the safety of trips, starting this year, you can rent a scooter in the capital only after verification through mos.ru .
