Rubio announced new proposals on Ukraine from Russia

The United States has heard new proposals from Russia to resolve the situation in Ukraine. This was announced on July 10 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio after a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Kuala Lumpur.

"I think this is a new and different approach. Again, I would not characterize this as something that guarantees peace," Rubio said.

He noted that he intends to report on these proposals to US President Donald Trump immediately after the press conference.

"We will cooperate with any party if it helps to achieve a result. Today's meeting was part of that approach. The president is disappointed by the lack of progress, but we are not giving up trying," concluded the American Secretary of State.

On the same day, at talks in Kuala Lumpur, Lavrov and Rubio confirmed their commitment to finding peaceful solutions to conflict situations. It was clarified that, in particular, the resumption of direct flights between the states could contribute to this. In addition, Lavrov and Rubio stressed the importance of further work to normalize the functioning of diplomatic missions.
