- Journalist Rey, who was convicted for speaking about the gender of Macron's wife, was acquitted
Independent French journalist Natasha Ray, who was previously convicted under the article "Slander" for claiming that Brigitte, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, is actually a man, was acquitted. This was announced on July 10 by the lawyer of the media representative Francois Danglean.
"Natasha Ray's victory against Brigitte and Jean-Michel Tronier: the court of appeal acquitted Natasha Ray," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter)
At the same time, Danglean clarified that the journalist intends to file a direct lawsuit against Brigitte Macron-Tronier and her brother Jean-Michel Tronier on charges of fraudulently misleading the court.
Danglean informed Izvestia on March 23 that Ray had filed a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). At the same time, in February, the journalist requested political asylum in the Russian Federation.
Last March, Macron publicly criticized the media for the first time for spreading false information that his wife was allegedly born a man.
