- Rospotrebnadzor recommended shortening the working day in case of heat in the premises
In case of indoor heat, it is recommended to shorten the working day. This was announced on Thursday, July 10, by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
"If there is an air conditioner, keep the room temperature at 24-25 degrees. If the temperature in a workplace without air conditioning reaches 28.5 degrees, it is recommended to shorten the working day by an hour; if it rises to 29 degrees, by two hours, and if the room heats up to 30.5 degrees, by four hours," the agency's website says.
In addition, to prevent overheating, employees must follow a drinking regime and organize their work efficiently. When working outdoors and at temperatures above 32.5 degrees, Rospotrebnadzor advises to limit the duration of continuous work to 15-20 minutes, followed by rest in a cooled room for at least 10-12 minutes.
Working at an air temperature of more than 32.5 degrees is considered dangerous working conditions. The agency recommends postponing such activities in the morning or evening and using special clothing to protect against overheating. Workers should also be provided with drinking water, fermented milk drinks, and fortified foods.
Oksana Pivovarova, a professor at the Department of Therapy at the Medical Faculty of the State University of Education, a therapist, said that extremely high temperatures are especially dangerous for vulnerable groups of the population, including the elderly, children and the chronically ill. According to her, the stress on the cardiovascular system increases dramatically in the heat, which can trigger hypertensive crises, heart attacks and strokes.
