Sales of new electric vehicles fell by 57% in Russia
In the first half of 2025, 4,398 new electric vehicles were sold in Russia, which is 57% less than in January–June 2024. This was reported on July 10 by the analytical agency Autostat.
The decline in sales in this market segment has been observed for exactly one year — since July last year. The peak of the market decline occurred in March 2025 (-77%). The most popular brand on the market of new electric cars remains the Chinese brand Zeekr, which is not officially represented in the country. Its sales for the first six months amounted to 1,439 units (-68% compared to the first half of 2024).
The domestic brand Evolve was in the second position of the rating with the result of 561 electric vehicles (-30%), the Chinese Avatr became the third (354 units; -18%). Next are Moskvich (350 units; -50%). and Ora (292 units; 2.5 times higher). The Zeekr 001 (775 units) became the bestseller among the models, followed by the Evolve i-Pro (454 units), Moskvich 3e (350 units), Avatr 11 (298 units) and Ora 03 (245 units).
In total, 965 new electric cars were sold in Russia in June 2025. This is 10% less than in the first summer month of 2024.
On July 8, it became known that the Russian Atom electric car will receive a special package designed for civil servants. It will have a different interior and will be offered in two body colors to choose from — black and white.
On June 17, it was reported that the Russian government adjusted the procedure for purchasing vehicles for state and municipal needs, setting a priority for environmentally friendly equipment. Instead of diesel and gasoline cars, government customers must now primarily purchase electric vehicles and vehicles powered by natural gas, the cabinet said.
