Kallas announced the expansion of the EU and Israel humanitarian aid program in Gaza
The European Union (EU) and Israel will expand their humanitarian aid program in Gaza. This was announced on July 10 by the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas.
"We have reached an agreement on very specific terms.: how many trucks will enter, how many crossings will be open, which distribution points will work so that people can get help, what kind of water distribution will be," Bloomberg quoted her as saying.
She also stressed the need to see the implementation of this agreement in practice. Improvements such as fuel supply to hospitals are already underway, Kallas said.
According to an unnamed source, the agreement will also allow the resumption of several humanitarian aid delivery routes. In addition to the routes through Egypt and Jordan, several other checkpoints are expected. It is noted that they will be opened in the northern and southern regions of the Gaza Strip.
In addition, an Israeli government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that bakeries and public kitchens would be allowed to distribute food in the future. Among other things, fuel supplies for humanitarian organizations are expected to resume.
Earlier, on July 6, the Financial Times newspaper reported on serious negotiations to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip on the first day of the truce. It was clarified that the mediators would also provide guarantees for the extension of the truce if it takes more time to conclude a deal to finally end the conflict.
