The sudden resignation of the CEO of the social network of American billionaire Elon Musk X (ex. Twitter) Linda Iaccarino calls into question the fate of the platform due to the growing competition and the introduction of artificial intelligence. This was announced on July 10 by the Axios portal.

"If Musk plans to use X's data to create [an AI-based chatbot] Grok and expand xAI, this could turn into problems for X," the material says.

The authors note that for two years, Iaccarino has maintained the status of X as the leading platform of social discourse, but now the social network has competitors.

"According to Similarweb, although X is still the leader in the number of daily web page visits in the world, the Threads application from Instagram (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation. — Ed.) is close to catching up with X in terms of the number of users," the article says.

On July 9, Iaccarino announced that she was resigning. Netizens suggested that her departure was related to recent statements made by the Grok chatbot embedded in the platform.

Before that, Grok praised Adolf Hitler and wrote anti-Semitic comments, including under posts about the deaths of children in the Texas floods. The company said it was working to remove "inappropriate" messages generated by its chatbot.
