In the first half of 2025, residents of the Kamchatka Territory gave about 300 million rubles to telephone fraudsters. A total of 601 crimes involving the use of digital technologies were registered.

Scammers use various deception schemes. When talking on the phone, they can introduce themselves as employees of the FSB, banks, public utilities, and polyclinics. They offer citizens to transfer money to outside accounts under the pretext of "securing funds", as well as to pay for services. The KamchatkaMedia news agency writes about this.

In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a pensioner was deceived under the pretext of replacing meters. An elderly man lost 2 million rubles. Another resident of the regional center was deceived by fraudsters, posing as employees of Rospotrebnadzor and the FSB, he lost 500 thousand rubles.

A criminal case has been opened on each fact.

In Moscow, a pensioner has been the victim of fraud twice. In March, a 75-year-old man was contacted by a stranger who knew about lawsuits filed by a resident of the capital against other scammers. He offered to return the stolen funds. The attacker asked for a total of 1.15 million rubles for his services. The victim transferred the money in cash six times.
