In Moscow, a pensioner repeatedly lost 1.1 million rubles stolen by fraudsters.
A Moscow pensioner has become a victim of fraud for the second time, trying to return previously stolen money. This was announced on July 10 by a source of Izvestia.
"In March, an unknown person contacted a 75-year-old man. He knew about his lawsuits against other scammers and offered to return the stolen funds for a fee," the source said.
For his services, the attacker asked for a total of 1.15 million steering wheels — 900 thousand for "basic work" and 250 thousand for "related expenses." From March to May, the pensioner transferred money in cash to fraudsters six times in different places in Moscow.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale") against a group of individuals. One of the suspects has been identified, and an inspection is underway.
On July 3, a man in Yakutia lost 7.4 million rubles due to phone fraud. A local resident believed that the scammers were working with the police. A criminal case was opened into the incident.
