More than a third of the seconded employees stay in five-star hotels, and the number of apartment bookings has decreased by a quarter. On July 13, analysts from OneTwoTrip for Business, an online travel service, told Izvestia where companies most often send employees on business trips, which accommodation facilities they prefer, and how much business trips to other countries cost.

"Interestingly, the average check decreased by 4%. If a year ago one company spent 73,600 rubles on business trips, this summer the amount is 70,600 rubles," said Stepan Mastryukov, head of the OneTwoTrip for Business service.

Istanbul became the most popular city for summer business trips (7.7% share), followed by Minsk (7.1%) and Shanghai (5.4%). The popularity of the Turkish city has decreased by a third. Business interest in trips to the capital of Belarus and Shanghai has hardly changed.

In addition, business trips to Almaty are often planned this summer (the share is 4.1%, which is a third more than last year), Tashkent (3.0%; +24%), Dubai (3.5%; +39%), Yerevan (2.9%; +6%), Astana (3.0%; +3%), Tbilisi (2.3%; -18%) and Beijing (2.1%; -21%).

Business trips began to be made to Delhi much more often (152% more orders were placed there). The demand for business trips to Paris and Kuala Lumpur has doubled. Barcelona (+80%), Seoul (79%), Amsterdam (+69%), Dubai (+65%), Madrid (+62%), Tokyo (+58%) and Almaty (+53%). Business trips to Guangzhou (-43% of bookings), Antalya (-35%), Bishkek (-30%), Milan (-25%) and Belgrade (-19%) became noticeably less frequent.

The average duration of a business trip abroad this summer is 6.7 days, slightly more than in the same period in 2024 (6.6 days).

Companies usually choose four-star hotels for their employees (38.1% of bookings), and almost as often business travelers stay in five-star hotels (34.3%). Three—star hotels are in high demand (the share is 15.5%). Over the year, the popularity of all three categories has increased slightly. But Russians on business trips abroad are living less frequently this summer: the share of their bookings decreased by 25%, to 11.3%.

Earlier, on May 12, Olga Chirikova, senior lecturer at the Department of Civil Law Disciplines at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, told Izvestia about the intricacies of applying for sick leave during a vacation or business trip abroad. The expert said that in this case, you need to get a document from a foreign medical institution confirming the fact of the disease.
