Ryabkov pointed to the inability of US sanctions to change the situation for Russia.
The adoption of the bill on new US sanctions against Russia will not fundamentally affect Russia's course. This was stated on July 10 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov during a conversation with journalists.
"There is in Washington <...> sanctions attempts that cannot be discounted, but by and large the threat of new sanctions has already become commonplace for us. <...> We know how to resist sanctions," he said.
The diplomat also touched upon other issues in Russian-American relations. According to him, Moscow has raised with Washington the issue of resuming flights between the countries, but the response from the United States on this topic remains minimal.
There is also a lack of constructive dialogue on the return of Russian diplomatic property in the United States. The Russian Federation is ready to "put the squeeze on" this issue in contacts with the United States, Ryabkov stressed. Referring to the American diplomatic presence in Russia, the deputy minister said that Washington has not yet requested an agreman from Moscow for its new ambassador and there is no clarity on this topic yet.
"The Trump administration is very contradictory in its actions and statements. It doesn't make the job easier. Nevertheless, we persistently and consistently pursue a course to move towards normalization of our relations," Ryabkov concluded.
The day before, Trump said that the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions depends solely on him. He added that he is closely following the process around the relevant bill in the US Congress.
