Sobyanin announced the launch of a children's literature contest
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the start of the fifth season of the Korney Chukovsky Prize competition in the field of children's literature. Authors and translators who published their works from January 1, 2024 to July 9, 2025 can take part in it.
"The competition was established in 2020 to support contemporary authors. He immediately became a notable event in the literary life of the country," Sobyanin wrote on his Telegram channel. He recalled that last year more than 600 applications were submitted from 108 Russian cities.
There are seven nominations in the competition, in one of them the winner will be chosen by the participants of the Active Citizen project. One of the members of the expert jury will be the winner of the "people's" nomination last year — the author of the book "A kind word and a nice pea" Alena Kashura.
The Korney Chukovsky Prize has been awarded to talented authors and translators such as Valentina Partina, Yulia Simbirskaya, Olga Serova, Olga Bochenkova and Maria Sukhotina.
