Accidents involving electric scooters in Moscow dropped by 60%
The number of road accidents involving personal mobility aids (IMS) in January-June in Moscow decreased by 59.8% compared to the same period last year. The Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate announced this in its Telegram channel on July 10.
In just six months, 297 accidents involving personal mobility vehicles were registered in Moscow, in which four people were killed and 310 injured. The number of deaths and injuries in such incidents decreased by 42.9% and 60.2%, respectively.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded that when traveling through pedestrian zones, one should not interfere with pedestrians, only one user can move on one scooter, and people over the age of 18 can rent rental scooters. The traffic police called on scooters to dismount in front of a pedestrian crossing and use protective equipment. You can rent a scooter only after passing verification through the Mos ID.
The day before, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate said that in the capital, according to the results of the first half of 2025, 6.7% fewer accidents occurred than in the same period last year. The number of dead and injured decreased by 32% and 5.1%, respectively.
On June 16, it was reported that the number of people killed in road accidents in Russia has decreased with an increase in the number of accidents. So, from January to May 2025, 44.4 thousand deaths occurred in Russia. Accidents with deaths or injuries, which is 0.7% more than in the same period last year. The number of dead in them amounted to 4.6 thousand people (-1.9%), and the wounded — 55.7 thousand people (+0.5%).
