French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer can coordinate the nuclear forces of the two countries under extreme threat. This was reported on July 10 by the American magazine Barrons with reference to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

"Britain and France will announce that the two countries' nuclear deterrents, although independent, can be coordinated and that they will jointly respond to any 'extreme threat to Europe,'" the material says.

According to the statement, the nuclear deterrents of both countries remain under national control, but "can be coordinated." It also follows from the text that there is no such extreme threat to Europe that would not entail retaliatory actions from France and Britain.

In addition, it is planned to announce the deepening of cooperation between France and the United Kingdom in the field of nuclear research while maintaining "common efforts to maintain the international architecture of nuclear nonproliferation."

Macron and Starmer are expected to sign the document on Thursday, July 10.

Yesterday, The Independent newspaper reported on plans by London and Paris to order a new supply of Storm Shadow (SCALP) cruise missiles to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It was also clarified that during Macron's visit to the United Kingdom, the states will determine the direction of the next stage of the project to create a successor to Storm Shadow.
