As a result of the collapse of an industrial tunnel in Wilmington, California, 15 workers were found and rescued. This was reported by the Los Angeles Times (LAT) on July 9.

"On Wednesday, the workers were pulled out of the tunnel, and judging by the footage from local television, they were not injured," the newspaper noted.

According to the newspaper, more than 100 employees of the Los Angeles Fire Department were sent to the scene. There were fears that the workers could be trapped and covered with the debris of the tunnel.

Earlier, on April 24, it was reported that a mine collapsed in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), killing at least 10 people. According to the Reuters news agency, the causes of the disaster could be "uncontrolled construction and poor maintenance of gold mines."
