A person is not immune from acquiring cancer, but it can reduce the risk of the disease by 20%. About this on July 10, "Gazeta.Ru," said Valentina Shamrikova, oncologist at Medsi.

A healthy lifestyle and some self-care habits help reduce the risk of cancer.

"Quitting smoking, alcohol, excessive consumption of red meat, tanning beds and the use of SPF products can reduce the risk of cancer by about 20%," Shamrikova shared.

The oncologist also recommended various screenings as a preventive measure. These include colonoscopy, gastroscopy, computed tomography, and other types of examinations.

"Unfortunately, there is no proven screening for some cancers. For example, for pancreatic, ovarian and brain cancers," the doctor noted.

Earlier, on July 9, oncourologist at SM Clinic Debo Bedene spoke about the increased risk of cancer of the genitourinary system due to obesity. According to the oncologist, increased fat mass, especially in the retroperitoneal space, supports a constant inflammatory process that affects the organs of the urinary system, and with prolonged inflammation, pathological changes begin.
