In Yakutia, a poacher was put on trial for illegal fishing
A criminal conviction was approved against a local resident of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), who illegally harvested several individuals of pike, burbot, whitefish, lenka, yazia, taimen, as well as Siberian sturgeon listed in the Red Book. This was announced on July 10 by the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office in its Telegram channel.
A resident of Yakutia is accused of committing crimes under clauses "b, c" of Part 1 of Article 256 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal extraction (fishing) of aquatic biological resources if this act was committed using a self-propelled floating vehicle and in spawning areas") and Part 1 of Article 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal extraction, maintenance, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer and sale of especially valuable wild animals and aquatic biological resources belonging to species listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation").
"The damage to the state from the illegal extraction of aquatic biological resources amounted to more than 1 million rubles — it was voluntarily reimbursed in full," the agency said in a statement.
Earlier, on June 26, employees of the linear department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the river port of Novosibirsk initiated 11 criminal cases against poachers violating the spawning ban period. The violators caused damage of almost half a million rubles.
