A 42-year-old man was detained in the Amur region of the Khabarovsk Territory, who illegally fished 700 kg of red book fish of the sturgeon family and extracted 7 kg of caviar. This was announced on July 10 by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Khabarovsk Territory in its Telegram channel.

"About 700 kg of frozen sturgeon and about 7 kg of sturgeon caviar were seized from a 42-year-old Amur resident. The damage amounted to more than 7 million rubles," the report said.

According to the investigation, police officers found and seized a fishing net, a boat with an outboard motor, many fragments of fish, as well as 13 plastic containers with black caviar in two garage boxes and at the boat station. The suspect did not explain for what purpose he caught and stored the fish.

According to the agency, a preventive measure was chosen against the suspect — a written undertaking not to leave and proper behavior. At the same time, fish, caviar, a boat and fishing gear were seized.

Earlier, on June 26, employees of the linear department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the river port of Novosibirsk initiated 11 criminal cases against poachers violating the spawning ban period. The violators caused damage of almost half a million rubles.
