Former South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol has been taken into custody for the second time since the failed attempt to impose martial law in the republic in 2024. This was reported by the Yonhap news agency on July 10.
"On Thursday, a Seoul court issued an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Seok—young in connection with his failed attempt to impose martial law, detaining him for the second time," the publication says.
Being clarified. that the judge decided to issue the warrant requested by the prosecutor out of concern that the ex-president might try to destroy evidence in his case.
At the same time, Yoon Seok-yel himself attended the meeting with his lawyers and denied all charges.
The situation in the republic worsened in early December 2024 after the president declared martial law. He cited the threat of paralysis of power due to attempts to carry out impeachment proceedings as the reason.
