Assault units of the 56th Guards Airborne Assault Don Cossack Regiment of the Novorossiysk Guards Airborne Mountain Unit from the North group of forces took part in the liberation of the village of Bessalovka in the Sumy region. This was announced on July 10 by the Russian Defense Ministry.
"Early in the morning, at dawn, the Crimean paratroopers in small assault groups secretly approached the enemy's strongholds in the village, eliminated all personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces of Ukraine. — Ed.), who were in them, having captured the settlement, gained a foothold on its southern outskirts and began to hold the specified frontier," the department said.
It is specified that the defense system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the main strongholds and firepower of the enemy were uncovered as a result of reconnaissance and additional reconnaissance before the start of the operation.
During the assault, operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) accompanied the paratroopers from the air and adjusted their work on the ground.
"In the future, the enemy, with the support of drone strikes and artillery fire, tried to recapture the lost positions by sending their reserves to the village, but the airborne assault groups, showing courage and bravery, repelled all enemy attempts," the Defense Ministry said.
In order to further retain the Hold, the consolidation units entered the settlement.
On July 7, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Russian Armed Forces had liberated the settlements of Bessalovka in the Sumy region and Dachnoye in the Dnipropetrovsk region. It was noted that the Russian Armed Forces also eliminated several brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Kazachye, Lopan and Volchansk in the Kharkiv region.
