- Reuters reported on the Philippines' intention to start negotiations with the United States on reducing duties.
The Philippine authorities intend to start negotiations with the United States on reducing trade duties, after the United States imposed a 20% tariff. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on July 9.
"We are still planning to negotiate a reduction in duties. This rate is higher than the originally stated 17%," said Philippine Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez.
According to the agency, the country has not yet decided on the final bid figure.
Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump imposed 50 percent tariffs on goods from Brazil. The American leader also warned about the imposition of 10 percent duties on the BRICS countries.
