Tolmachev was tasked with clearing mines on the bridge so that armored vehicles and personnel of the Russian Armed Forces could be moved along it. At the head of a group of sappers, the sergeant began the task that needed to be completed as soon as possible.: The Ukrainian Armed Forces were already preparing a counterattack. Suddenly, the motion sensor went off, and the countdown started on the device. The sergeant did not panic, managed to find the right wire and cut it, disabling the device. Thanks to Tolmachev's high professionalism and self-control, the bridge was successfully cleared.
Earlier, on July 9, the Russian Defense Ministry said that during aerial reconnaissance, Senior Sergeant Roman Eremin, commander of a company of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Guard, discovered a camouflaged cluster of AFU equipment.
