On Wednesday, July 9, the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Hutsul, accused the judge who will decide whether to extend her house arrest of bias.

According to Gutsul, the lawyers' motion to dismiss the judge during the trial was rejected, which confirms the obvious — justice in Moldova is "dead."

"The case on the extension of the preventive measure will again be considered by the same judge, whose bias is beyond doubt even by neutral observers," the publication on the Telegram channel of the head of Gagauzia says.

According to Gutsul, the judges follow the instructions of Moldovan President Maia Sandu, who "curtails all democratic freedoms" and eliminates inconvenient, in her opinion, politicians.

Hutsul was detained at the Chisinau airport on March 25 when her name was found on the list of persons prohibited from leaving the country. Later, the head of Gagauzia was arrested for 20 days, and on April 9, the court replaced her preventive measure with house arrest. Since then, it has been extended several times. Already on July 1, prosecutors demanded that Hutsul be sentenced to nine years in prison in the case of "illegal financing of political parties."

On July 3, in her last speech at the court session, the head of Gagauzia stated that she had never violated the law and asked the court to acquit her. According to her, the prosecutor did not provide any evidence.
