At the end of the adjournment of the court session in Chisinau, the court ignored the petition of the lawyers of the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, to replace the judge. This was announced on June 9 by the Canal 5 TV channel.

"The former judge was retained in the case of Yevgenia Hutsul. The lawyers' motion for recusal was rejected," the newspaper's Telegram channel says.

After the hearing, Hutsul was able to address her supporters outside the courthouse.

"I will have another opportunity to leave the house — to see you, and you will see me. Unfortunately, I can't cross the threshold of the apartment. Tomorrow we will find out what decision the judge will make," the TV channel reports the words of the head of Gagauzia.

On July 1, prosecutors demanded that Hutsul be sentenced to nine years in prison in the case of "illegal financing of political parties." It was specified that the Hutsul verdict would be announced on August 5.

Hutsul was detained at the Chisinau airport on March 25 when her name was found on the list of persons prohibited from leaving the country. Later, the head of Gagauzia was arrested for 20 days, and on April 9, the court replaced her measure of restraint with house arrest, since then it has been extended.
