- The State Duma reacted to the proposal to raise pension allowances from the age of 70
It is unlikely that the initiative on pension allowances from the age of 70 will be implemented in Russia. Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, expressed this opinion on Wednesday, July 9.
According to the deputy, the initiative was formed from the previously existing legislative norm, which assumed the onset of disability of group I upon reaching the age of 80.
"Yes, it was a formality. As a rule, people who reached the age of 80 simply applied to the medical commission, and it determined their disability group I based on their age. To eliminate this bureaucratization, the formalization of the process, this norm was divided into such parts that it was not necessary to confirm the onset of disability at the age of 80," the parliamentarian said in an interview. Bessarab clarified that the norm has now been transformed and ensures that an insurance pension supplement is received automatically upon reaching the age of 80.
"I don't think it [the initiative] will pass so easily, because at a minimum it is necessary to request information from the medical community: are citizens 70 years old as helpless as people with disabilities of group I or those who have reached the age of 80, because this surcharge implies the need for constant outside care, the need for increased cost medical services, perhaps some medicines are being purchased for a citizen at that age," the politician concluded.
The day before, it became known that the head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, Yaroslav Nilov, developed a bill according to which it is proposed to pay a pension supplement from the age of 70 and establish an increased fixed payment to an old-age insurance pension differentially, depending on age, RT reports.
Thus, it is proposed to increase the payment by 100% for those who have reached the age of 70, by 200% for those who have reached the age of 80 or are disabled in group I, and by 300% for those who have reached the age of 90. 360.ru .
Today, the allowance in Russia is paid from the age of 80, according to the website kp.ru .
The day before, Igor Balynin, an associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, said that from August 1, several categories of Russians will be eligible for increased pension payments. In particular, the fixed pension allowance for those who turned 80 in July or had a disability of the first group will increase by 2.15 times.
On July 1, the Moscow City News Agency reported that starting in 2026, insurance pensions of Russian citizens will increase twice a year.
