Hungarian Prime Minister Orban called on von der Leyen to resign
On July 9, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban posted a photo of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, calling on her to resign.
The photo is stylized to look like the cover of Time magazine, dedicated to the exit of former US President Joe Biden from the election race in 2024.
"It's time to leave," Orban signed his post on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
On May 14, the Court of Justice of the European Union (EU) found the head of the EC responsible for concealing information about contracts for the purchase of vaccines. It was clarified that such a decision could deal a crushing blow to von der Leyen's reputation.
On June 27, more than 70 MEPs supported the initiative to vote no confidence in the head of the European Commission. Of the 79 deputies from the European Conservative and Reformist Group, 31 representatives signed the vote of no confidence.
