The Ministry of Education and Science announced plans to transfer universities to a new model by 2027

Russia will fully switch to the new higher education system by 2027. This was announced on July 9 by Dmitry Afanasyev, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Science.

"When do we plan to switch the higher education system to a new <...> model? The general answer is that from 2027, the whole system will be switched on," he said at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

It is noted that the Ministry of Education and Science also wants to increase the number of universities participating in the pilot project of the new system.

On June 15, the Ministry of Education and Science announced that the transition of universities in the Russian Federation to a new model of education will begin in 2026-2027. They clarified that since 2023, the pilot project has included MAI, MISIS, Moscow State University, Baltic Federal University, St. Petersburg Mining University, Tomsk State University.
