Improper eating habits can lead to serious problems with the digestive system. About what you need to pay attention to for the healthy functioning of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), July 9, Gazeta.Ru" was told by Shota Kalandiya, a gastroenterologist and therapist at the SM Clinic.

According to the doctor, a lack of fiber and water in the diet can disrupt intestinal function. Fiber helps in forming soft stools and preventing constipation, while lack of water leads to dehydration.

Kalandia recommended paying attention to what we eat.

"Fatty foods, especially those containing saturated fats and trans fats, are poorly digested and can provoke inflammation in the intestines. Such products create an additional burden on the digestive system and increase the risk of chronic diseases," explained the gastroenterologist.

He also recommended reducing the consumption of sugar and refined carbohydrates, as they create an environment for pathogenic bacteria. The use of alcoholic and caffeinated beverages should also be careful, as they can irritate the intestinal mucosa and contribute to the progression of inflammatory processes.

The specialist advises eating a balanced diet to maintain the health of not only the digestive system, but also the entire body.

Earlier, on July 8, Olga Tarasova, Associate Professor of the Department of Hospital Pediatrics No. 2 at Pirogov University, spoke about the dangers of eating on the go. The doctor noted that this approach to eating causes stress in our body.
