The United States expects to receive over as fees from new import duties by the end of the year. This was announced on July 8 by the country's Finance Minister Scott Bessent at a meeting of the cabinet of US President Donald Trump at the White House.

"We can expect this figure to exceed $300 billion by the end of the year," the official said.

According to Bessent, by now Washington has already received about $100 billion due to the levied duties.

The Telegraph newspaper reported on July 8 that Trump's new duties against BRICS members would not have a strong impact on the Russian economy. It is also noted that their introduction will negate progress in reducing trade tensions between the United States and China.

On July 6, Trump announced that he plans to impose additional duties of 10% on countries that support the BRICS policy. He added that there would be no exceptions to this rule.
