The State Duma approved a draft law on the suspension of communication services when accounts are seized

The State Duma (DG) approved in the first reading a draft law on suspending the provision of communication services to a subscriber whose accounts have been seized. This was stated on July 8 in the database of bills of the lower house of parliament.

It is noted that the initiative is aimed at combating crimes related to theft and withdrawal of funds through telecommunication technologies. According to the bill, it is proposed to oblige telecom operators to temporarily block the refund of advance payments for communication services if there are grounds to suspect their use in criminal activities.

It is specified that the initiative is aimed at improving the effectiveness of countering financial crimes and protecting the interests of subscribers.
