Used cars have fallen in price by 4% in Russia in six months
At the end of June 2025, the average price of a used passenger car in Russia was 3.6% lower than at the end of December 2024. This was reported on July 8 by the analytical agency Autostat.
So, for six months, the average price of a used car in the country decreased by 54 thousand rubles — from 1.48 million to 1.43 million rubles.
Analysts noted that used cars in Russia have been getting cheaper for the fifth month in a row since February of this year. At the same time, in June, compared to May, they became cheaper by 15 thousand rubles or by 1%. And their average price decreased the most in May (-2%).
Earlier, on July 7, Ilya Shilov, director of development at Forsage Lubricants, told Izvestia that the main reason for the decline in the cost of cars on the secondary market is the increased availability of new cars, especially Chinese ones. Fluctuations in the ruble exchange rate also played an important role, making imported models slightly more profitable. According to Shilov, the price decline will continue, but it will be gradual.
On July 1, Sergey Tselikov, director of Autostat, said that relatively new Chinese used cars were rapidly losing value. From January to June, such cars aged one to three years fell in price on the secondary market by an average of 10-15%.
