Ten supporters of businessman Samvel Karapetyan were detained in Armenia.

During the large-scale searches, ten supporters of Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan were detained and taken to the investigative department. About this July 8 edition NEWS.am lawyer Lusine Martirosyan reported.

"Large–scale searches began in the morning, both in the apartments of employees of the Electric Grid of Armenia company (owned by Karapetyan – Ed.) and citizens who, according to the investigative body, participated in the July 4 rally (in support of the entrepreneur — Ed.)," she said.

Martirosyan added that a team of lawyers has been near the city headquarters building since morning, while they are not allowed to participate in the proceedings involving their clients. In addition, lawyers cannot obtain complete information about the state of the defendants' case.

Armenian politician Arman Abovyan called the businessman's detention an attempt to weaken the influence of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC), which is publicly supported by the detained businessman.
