Soyuzmultfilm wants to make a modern interpretation of Winnie the Pooh.
Soyuzmultfilm is considering the possibility of working on a modern version of the adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Boris Mashkovtsev, the general director of the film studio, told Izvestia about this on July 8.
"I hope that we can come up with some good story related to Winnie the Pooh. I think it will be very interesting to work with such a character, because he is paradoxical. It's about putting the same character in different circumstances and seeing how he behaves. This is why it's interesting to work with characters from previous eras, because you can analyze the current time, compare it with the previous era through the character. There was a hero [Winnie the Pooh] who 30, 40, 50 years ago behaved in a certain way. And what would happen if he found himself in the modern world with his own behavior model? Perhaps this will give some answers to the questions of how we live," he said.
Today, projects related to characters that were invented back in the Soviet period are very popular with the Russian audience. Such cartoons make it possible to establish cultural communication between children and parents, Mashkovtsev said.
"Children are not always ready to watch a Soviet film. That's why we take characters who were popular when their parents were kids and start developing new stories with them. This becomes a bridge for the transfer of the cultural code from parents to children. This is something that parents appreciate and that is interesting to children, because the characters take on a new form, new stories appear," says the CEO of Soyuzmultfilm.
He added that the implementation of certain new projects requires initiative and support from partners. Earlier it became known that the NTV channel, the Soyuzmultfilm film studio and the TEMP film company signed an agreement to create a full-length feature film "Nu Pogodi!". The film is scheduled to be released in 2028.
On February 27, it was reported that Soyuzmultfilm Film Studio and China Media Group had agreed to cooperate in animation. The first step will be the screening of the animated series "Umka" on China's largest children's TV channel, CCTV-14. More than 50 episodes of the popular project will be presented to Chinese viewers. At the same time, the Ice Hockey Together series from CCTV Animation Group, created for the 24th 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, will be broadcast on Soyuzmultfilm's own TV channel, Multilandia.
