The Armenian parliament has stripped the immunity of opposition MP Sargsyan
The Armenian parliament has voted to revoke the parliamentary immunity of Artur Sargsyan, a member of the opposition Armenia faction. This was reported by Sputnik Armenia on Tuesday, July 8.
"62 deputies voted for the Prosecutor General's motion, but there were no objections. The opposition did not participate in the voting," the newspaper's Telegram channel clarified.
It is specified that Sargsyan is going to be criminally prosecuted in the case of an "attempt to seize power by force and prepare a terrorist act," according to which Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan was previously arrested.
On the same day, a scuffle took place in the Armenian parliament with the participation of security officers, deputies, as well as their assistants. It was clarified that the situation became tense after Sargsyan's speech. According to Sputnik Armenia, immediately after the deputy's speech, when he said that he intended to go home and wait for a decision there, Vahe Galumyan, a member of the pro-government Civil Contract faction, ran up, and a scuffle began.
