- A resident of Sevastopol was sentenced to 17 years for transferring data on military facilities to Ukraine.
The Sevastopol City Court sentenced a 37-year-old local resident to 17 years in prison in a high-security penal colony for transferring data on Russian military facilities to Ukraine. This was reported on July 8 in the press service of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
The man was detained in December 2024. It was established that he voluntarily joined a chat in the messenger, which is coordinated by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR MOU) in order to conduct sabotage and terrorist activities on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Subsequently, on assignment, he collected data on the location of air surveillance posts, air defense forces, and units of the Black Sea Fleet. He transmitted the information for further attacks by the Ukrainian side on targets. A criminal case of treason was being investigated on this fact.
"The Sevastopol City Court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to imprisonment for a term of 17 years to be served in a high-security penal colony with one year of restriction of liberty. The defendant is also required to pay a fine of 200,000 rubles. The verdict has not entered into legal force," the ministry said in a statement.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of 200 thousand rubles.
Earlier, on June 26, a court sentenced Grigory Skvortsov, a photographer from Perm, who was found guilty of treason, to 16 years in prison. The defendant will serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony, while his freedom will be limited for a period of one year.
