Svetlana Radionova, Head of Rosprirodnadzor, announced the results of the V anniversary season of the International Children's and Youth Award "Ecology is everyone's business". This year, the participants presented a record number of innovative projects, creative works and social initiatives aimed at solving environmental problems. Children and adults have sent more than 110,000 applications, which is 19 times more than in the first season. The Grand Prix of the award was won by 17-year-old Nikolai Petrenkin from Moscow. The jury selected 126 winners from 43 Russian regions and 8 other foreign countries, as well as more than 750 prize-winners.

As noted by the country's chief ecologist Svetlana Radionova, within the framework of the anniversary season of the Rosprirodnadzor award "Ecology is everyone's business", children and youth from all over the world offered innovative projects, creative work and educational initiatives aimed at nature conservation. In five seasons, over 320,000 applications have been received from 95 countries, from all five continents. This year, participants from 17 new countries joined the award for the first time, including Angola, Argentina, Pakistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and others. The representatives of Egypt, Sri Lanka, Venezuela, Belarus and Moldova showed the greatest activity among the foreign participants. At the same time, all 89 regions of Russia traditionally remain involved in the project. The top 10 most active regions are: Saratov Region, Republic of Tatarstan, Perm Krai, Smolensk, Penza, Belgorod, Tula regions, Udmurt Republic, Ryazan and Pskov regions.

The fifth anniversary season of the Ecology is Everyone's Business award has confirmed that the younger generation is actively involved in solving environmental problems, offering bold ideas and real projects. This year, the competition received a record 110,000 applications, which is 19 times more than in the first season! The jury faced a serious choice due to the large number of strong works, and had to award several second and third places each. More than three winners in each age category were determined in four nominations. The competition was particularly intense in the "Ecoproject" and "Generation of the Future" nominations, where participants presented real engineering solutions and social initiatives. In the "Ecoproject" nomination in the age category of 14-18 years, the 1st place was taken by Stanislav Miroshnik, a 15-year–old from the Amur Region with the Matryoshka project, an innovative environmentally friendly locomotive with a multifunctional tender for the transportation and production of hydrogen. The uniqueness of the project lies in the combination of the functions of electrolysis from solar panels, energy recovery and damping protection.

This year, SIBUR, the federal partner of the Award, has established a special prize "Green Future". It will be awarded to the author of the best environmental project in the field of biodiversity conservation, responsible behavior in nature and ecotourism development. The company selected five prize—winners and the winner is 17-year-old Maxim Tsygin from the city of Belovo, Kemerovo region. The award winner of the third and fourth seasons has developed a system that uses artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things to monitor biodiversity in ecosystems. The system can get the maximum amount of information without using human resources. Maxim's work is of great importance, because the balance of ecosystems depends on the conservation of biodiversity.

Thanks to cooperation with North Caucasus Federal University and personally Rector Dmitry Bespalov, who was a member of the jury, this year's award attracted a record number of foreign participants from Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, and Tunisia. In the "Generation of the Future" nomination, there was high competition among foreign works. The winner among the participants aged 19-35 was Isaid Yacoub from Jordan with the project "Agriculture for youth". His initiative is aimed at teaching students modern agricultural technologies and the formation of environmental awareness.

Creative works are also growing every year, not only quantitatively, but also reaching a new qualitative level. The nominations "Ecorisunok", "Ecofocus" and "Ecomultfilm" became traditionally bright. This year, professional photographers participated for the first time, and among the winners there are works dedicated to red book animals. Special attention should be paid to 9-year-old Timofey Subbotin from Cherepovets, who has won the prize for the second year in a row. This season, he took 2nd place in the Ecomultfilm nomination with his work "Ecoduk comes to the rescue", which raises the topic of animal protection.
