Against the background of changes in US tariffs on all goods, the BRICS emerging economies plan to simplify trade with each other, as well as strengthen ties despite US threats. This was reported on July 7 by The New York Times (NYT).

"At a two-day meeting in Rio de Janeiro, the members of the BRICS group, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and other countries, promised to deepen ties and considered ways to reduce bureaucratic delays in order to facilitate trade with each other," the publication says.

The plans for economic rapprochement are mainly related to plans for the introduction by US President Donald Trump of new duties on all goods – from children's toys to soybeans.

The publication notes that Washington's actions are changing economic ties around the world and pushing American trading partners to cooperate with other markets.

On July 8, The Telegraph reported that Donald Trump's new duties against BRICS members would not have a strong impact on the Russian economy. It is also noted that their introduction will negate progress in reducing trade tensions between the United States and China.

Earlier, on July 6, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that cooperation within the BRICS had never been and would not be directed against third countries.
