- The orientalist announced a new phase of diplomacy after Trump's announcement of a dialogue with Iran
The statement by US President Donald Trump on negotiations with Iran signals the beginning of a new stage of diplomatic efforts in Washington's Middle East policy. This was stated by political analyst Dmitry Brije in an interview with Izvestia on July 8.
"It is important to understand that the current negotiations will take place in conditions of complete loss of mutual trust, in a situation where the parties perceive each other as a threat to national security, and not as a negotiating partner," the source said.
According to the orientalist, the US decision to step up diplomacy is due to several factors: the critical tension in the region and the ineffectiveness of attempts to isolate Iran, which continues to develop its nuclear program and strengthen ties with Russia and China. Partial lifting of sanctions and provision of security guarantees for Iran may be important aspects for negotiations.
"Everything will depend on further negotiations: how serious they will be, how much the United States will make concessions, how much Iran will understand that the situation is not easy, and how much Israel will understand that any military intrigues will only lead to big problems," the expert concluded.
On July 7, Trump's special envoy Stephen Witkoff said that negotiations between the United States and Iran could take place next week. The head of the White House noted that the Tehran authorities offered to sit down at the negotiating table after the American bombing of the country's nuclear facilities.
