A man from Lipetsk was stung by a venomous stingray on the central beach of Anapa. The victim, Alexander Alexandrovich, was on vacation at the Diluch sanatorium.

"When I was coming out of the sea, I was struck by a terrible pain in my ankle. I thought I had run into a broken bottle or a can that had been blown out by a storm. My leg began to cramp already in the water, to twist," said Lipchanin, quoted in the Anapa Black Sea Telegram channel.

According to Alexander, when he came out of the water, a stream of blood was already gushing from his leg. Vacationers gathered around him, and a girl ran out of the cafe with hydrogen peroxide to treat the wound. Then a rescuer came up and immediately determined that the man had been attacked by a stingray.

The venom of this marine animal causes severe pain, cramps, pressure drop and palpitations, writes GOROD48. The victim went to the surgeon, his leg hurts for the fourth day and the tumor does not go down.

Local residents told Alexander that the attack of stingrays in Anapa is a rarity. Lipchanin is sure that the animal did not sting him by accident: it was affected by the fuel oil or it was taking revenge on people for allowing the tanker to crash.

The accident occurred on December 15, 2024, when the tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239 crashed in the Kerch Strait. Both vessels were carrying more than 9.2 tons of fuel oil, of which about 2.4 thousand tons spilled into the sea as a result of the accident. This has seriously damaged the flora and fauna of the region.
