A court has sentenced Georgian mercenary Gela Eradze to 14 years in prison in absentia for his involvement in the armed conflict on the side of Ukraine. This was announced on July 8 by the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.

The ministry clarified that at the beginning of 2022, the person involved voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) as a mercenary. For a monetary reward, the mercenary took part in combat operations against the Russian army.

"The verdict of the court sentenced Eradze in absentia to 14 years of imprisonment to be served in a high—security penal colony," the Telegram channel says.

On June 30, a court in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) sentenced a mercenary from Georgia to 14 years in prison in absentia for participating in an armed conflict. It was noted that the mercenary participated in combat operations until March 2025. For this, he received a reward of more than 2.9 million rubles.
