A safe with 7 million rubles and a jeweler's purse was stolen from a pensioner in the Leningrad region

A particularly large-scale theft occurred in Sosnovy Bor (Leningrad region). A local pensioner was robbed of more than 7 million rubles, the 78 TV channel reported on Tuesday, July 8.

On the evening of July 7, a 72-year-old woman contacted the duty station. She said that the thief entered her two-room apartment by opening the front door with a key.

The criminal took out of the bedroom a metal safe containing € 20,000, $10,000, 3.5 million rubles and jewelry worth 560,000 rubles.

A criminal case has been opened under paragraph "b" of Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Theft committed on an especially large scale"). The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.

Earlier it was reported that the Italian police uncovered a theft scheme at a gold smelter: an employee of the enterprise took out the precious metal, hiding it in his hair.
