The specialists of the Shvabe holding (part of Rostec State Corporation) presented a new "smart" traffic light "DS7-Light" at the Innoprom-2025 exhibition. Rostec announced this in its Telegram channel. The product has already been certified, put into mass production and will enter the market this year.

Relative to the currently produced traffic lights, the weight of the novelty has been reduced by more than half. It is claimed that the traffic light is energy efficient and designed for 12 years of service. It has a sealed housing and glass made of UV-resistant materials, which allows it to operate at temperatures from -50 to +60 degrees.

DS7-Lite was protected from electrical interference that may occur due to nearby electric vehicles and power lines, which prevents accidental switching on of various sections of the traffic light. It was possible to reduce the cost of the traffic light and speed up its assembly by replacing a number of electronic components with more compact ones, and the use of polymer made its walls thinner, while maintaining the strength of the body.

The traffic light can be equipped with a digital control module for communication with the traffic controller. This simplifies its connection and eliminates the possibility of desynchronization of signals at traffic lights at the same intersection, the experts explained. The lighting characteristics, including the brightness of the signals, remained at the same level and comply with the requirements of the Customs Union. This opens up prospects for bringing DS7-Lite to the EAEU markets, Shvab said.

The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that expands the possibilities of the State Traffic Inspectorate to revoke driver's licenses that have already been issued. It will enter into force on March 1, 2027. The traffic police will have the right to prematurely revoke the certificates of drivers who have received contraindications to driving after an extraordinary medical examination.
