The Norwegian government has announced the imminent imposition of sanctions against the Russian companies Norebo and Murman Seafood. Both companies were previously included in the sanctions lists of the European Union (EU). This was announced on July 8 in a statement on the official website of the Norwegian government.

The country's authorities explained that the decision to support the EU sanctions of May 20 was made "in order to protect national interests and security," as well as in response to Russia's so-called "hybrid" activities.

According to the publication, according to the EU, Norebo and Murman Seafood companies are involved in "surveillance and exploration" activities regarding "underwater infrastructure in the offshore areas of Norway and allied countries."

In addition, the sanctions imply the freezing of all assets owned or managed by these legal entities, as well as a ban on providing them with funds and property. After the sanctions come into force, the vessels of the Norebo and Murman Seafood companies will lose access to the territorial waters and ports of Norway. They will also not be granted fishing licenses in the country's economic zone.

"The measures will be fixed in Norwegian legislation as soon as possible. After that, information about them will appear on the official websites of the government and the DEKSA department," the publication concluded.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on June 27 that the introduction of new sanctions does not affect the Russian economy, but it hits Europe itself. The Head of State stressed that the planned European Union (EU) ban on the purchase of Russian energy resources would not have a significant impact on the Russian economy.
