French President Emmanuel Macron will make the first state visit of a European leader to the United Kingdom after Britain's withdrawal from the European Union (Brexit) and will meet with Monarch Charles III. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on July 8.

"On Tuesday, King Charles of Great Britain will receive Macron at Windsor Castle as part of the first state visit by a European leader after Brexit, as part of a trip aimed at celebrating the restoration of closer political ties between the countries," the publication says.

It is noted that the last state visit of the French president to the UK took place in 2008. Then Nicolas Sarkozy was a guest of Queen Elizabeth.

Macron's upcoming visit to the UK was first announced on April 20. It was reported that at the meeting, the British government plans to discuss with the French president the strengthening of trade between the European Union and the United Kingdom.
