As the expert noted, fruits should be washed in warm water, the temperature of which is not higher than 40 ° C. She explained that hot water can damage the surface of products, while cold water does not effectively remove impurities.
Abdullayeva recommends not using dishwashing detergents or soap to clean fruits and vegetables, suggesting replacing chemicals with baking soda.
"A solution of baking soda (prepared in the proportion of one tablespoon per liter of water) helps to remove wax and pesticides," she explained.
When washing fruits and vegetables, you need to take care of their surface. If there are damaged areas on the product, they should be cut off, according to the expert.
"It is recommended to wash strong vegetables (carrots, cucumbers, potatoes) for 30-60 seconds with a sponge, soft brush or hands. Tender fruits (strawberries, grapes, tomatoes) for 20-30 seconds under running water without pressure," Abdullayeva recommended.
