US President Donald Trump has suspended the imposition of increased import tariffs until August 1, 2025. The corresponding decree was published on the White House website on July 7.

"I have determined that it is necessary and advisable to extend the suspension, put into effect by presidential decree, until 12:01 Eastern time (07:01 Moscow time. — Ed.) on August 1, 2025," the document says.

It is noted that Trump made the decision based on consultations with senior officials. At the same time, the extension of the suspension of duties does not apply to trade with China.

On the same day, Trump announced that from August 1, the United States would impose duties of 25% on all goods of Korean and Japanese origin imported into the country. According to him, the United States is ready to continue trade with Korea and Japan, but intends to achieve a more balanced relationship. He clarified that the new tariffs should compensate for the long-term trade deficit caused by the tariff and other policies of these countries.
