Olivier Marlex, a French deputy of the National Assembly (lower house of parliament) of France from the right-wing Republicans party, was found hanged. This was reported on July 7 by the Franceinfo TV channel.

"The former president of the Republican group, aged 54, was found in his house in Aneta in an upper room," the material says.

According to the TV channel, law enforcement officers have launched an investigation to determine the cause of death. In addition, an autopsy is planned. Presumably, Marlex committed suicide.

French President Emmanuel Macron reacted to the death of the politician, noting that he "strongly" defended his ideas.

"I also respected our differences, as they were presented in the light of our love for the country. I express my condolences to his family, his father Alain, and all his fellow soldiers," Le Figaro newspaper quoted the French leader as saying.

According to the France 24 TV channel, Marlet has been posing as an "anti-macronist" since 2017. In addition, in 2021, he published a book called "The Liquidators," subtitled "What Macronism is Doing to France and How to Get Out of It."

According to the newspaper Le Figaro, Marlex grew up in the political family of Alain Marlet, a former deputy from Cantal, who later served as secretary of State in local government. France 24 notes that in just a few months, Marlet was able to succeed by approving a proposal to reject the immigration law in November 2023.
